We are looking for an enthusiastic autistic individual to come and join our Trust wide autism service who can provide their autism lived experience perspective in relation to supporting the development / change of the way services operate.

This exciting opportunity has arisen for you to be an Autism Lived Experience Lead within the TEWV Trust wide Autism service working across all trust services and localities within Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust. The key role of the service includes providing Autism training, specialist autism clinical support, and clinical supervision and advice, across the whole of the trust services.

This is a full-time post and permanent.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants can travel independently across the trust and have access to suitable vehicle for business purposes. Reasonable adjustments will be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Main duties of the job

You will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary members of the service supporting the development of the plans, pathways, and complete environmental transformation of mental health services.

You will have experience and knowledge of collaborating with autistic people (children, young people, or adults) which is essential for this post, as is experience of working in a mental health setting.

A key aspect to the success of this role will be your highly developed communication skills, underpinned by your lived experience and expertise gained in this field which will allow you to objectively support others in the provision of care for our autistic service users.

You will support in the production of reports, action plans and be responsible for accurate and sensitive data collection and administration processes.

You must be motivated, able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of Leadership and Project Management
  • Facilitation, Training and Teaching Skills
Knowledge
  • Proven ability to share elements of own life experiences, and engage compassionately with experiences of others, in a way appropriate to the role
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information in a manner appropriate to the individual and situation.
  • Effectively maintain complex peer relationships
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide effective teaching, training, and supervision.
  • Motivate and work positively and constructively with other members of the team.
