CAMHS is in receipt of new investment and will be receiving additional investment over the next three years which will enable us to continue to offer a high-quality service to children and young people at a time of growing need.


We have opportunities for several new fulltime Band 6 CAMHS practitioner posts in Tameside and Glossop CAMHS . These posts are based within core CAMHS , Single Point of Access , Neurodevelopment Pathway and the CAMHS Neighbourhood/Locality Team . One of our priorities is supporting our team with their continued professional development. CAMHS offers a wide range of mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions including family therapy, CBT, interpersonal therapy, EMDR, play therapy and psychotherapy for children and young people aged 5 to 18 years. You will be encouraged to explore your therapeutic interest alongside providing a range of quality CAMHS assessments/interventions. CAMHS also has close links with community services which work with children and young people to offer an early help and bespoke packages of care. There are plenty of opportunities to work in a true multi agency way to help deliver a whole system offer that communicates that all children and young people matter and that their emotional wellbeing and mental health needs are understood and supported with kindness, compassion and high quality and safe care.


These posts will be responsible for providing high quality mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions for adolescents and families using evidence-based interventions.


Providing consultation, advice, and training to a wide range of agencies.
As a service we prioritise staff wellbeing and are active in ensuring that our team values are demonstrated in practice and are a vital part of our working culture. Working hours are generally Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, though there is plenty of opportunity to work flexibly as we are looking to expand our opening hours as part of our service transformation plans and work around your unique needs as an employee.


We are always interested in hearing new ideas and creative ways of working to meet the needs of our service users and support quality improvements, therefore your voice does matter and will be included in key service developments.


As part of your professional development, you will be supported in pursing and attending relevant in-house training and will have external opportunities to embark on further professional qualifications relevant to the post.
Strong Children and Young Persons mental health knowledge and experience.
Experience of using training, supervision, and consultation as a means of helping other professionals to support the mental health of CYP.
Good understanding and commitment to the CAMHS transformation agenda.

Registered Nurse -Mental Health, Social Work or OT Qualification or equivalent with regulatory body registration
Significant post qualification experience in community mental health services

Knowledge of mental health issues in young people
Knowledge of relevant legislation and National policies in relation to young people.
Knowledge of therapeutic interventions with young people

Understanding of Youth Offending services.
Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues relating to young people

Professional involvement with the users of mental health services.
Experience of case management of young people
Experience of multi-agency working

Experience of relating to young people in a group or community setting.


Ability to undertake appropriate mental health assessments
