About the role:
A Senior Homicide Service Family Caseworker (SHFCW) will line manage a small team of Homicide Service Family Caseworkers (HFCWs); providing support, supervision and development to those within their team. SHFCWs will ensure all team members access the support they need to be able to undertake their role. They will use case reviews and performance management to ensure support for all eligible service users meets the highest quality of support.
SHFCWs are expected to successfully complete ongoing bespoke training to prepare for and develop in their role in order to be able to provide all support to the highest standards. They will support the Regional Manager to promote a collaborative approach across the team; sharing good practice and working with colleagues across the HS to ensure the smooth delivery of support to service users.
Eligible service users include those bereaved by homicide and those who were eyewitness to homicide.
Service users are at the heart of the work we do. SHFCW's will provide trauma informed support to service users; managing a caseload of complex cases; completing actions agreed on Support Plans and reviewing needs with service users on an ongoing basis. This will include supporting service users to consider the needs of eligible children and young people within the family. Once a service user is ready to leave the Service the SHFCW will help to ensure they have the ongoing support they need.
SHFCW's will be the main point of contact for the families in their caseload and for several agencies throughout support. SHFCW's will advocate for service users throughout a range of needs, including the Coroner, Domestic Homicide Reviews, and liaising with a range of agencies and individuals for example employees and schools. The SHFCW will work collaboratively with other teams within the Homicide Service and wider VS services.
SHFCW's will support the development and management of relationships with key stakeholders and support the Regional Manager to ensure the service is delivered in line with contractual requirement
