- Plan, deliver, and monitor assigned work packages, making engineering decisions within your sphere of responsibility.
- Effectively handle multiple issues, tasks, and priorities concurrently across projects.
- Interact with the customer community at a high level, maintaining the integrity of engineering outputs.
- Contribute to the EE&F strategy to keep pace with emerging technologies and threats.
Additional Skill Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for Environmental Engineering technical details from off-site trials, communicating these through dedicated meetings and working groups.
- Oversee day-to-day activities from project initiation to completion of an environmental test program, including technical calls, management of occurrences/NCRs, documentation updates, progress reviews, and resolution or escalation of technical issues.
- Provide guidance to the off-site trials facility to ensure compliance with Environmental Proving Requirements, covering equipment usage, instrumentation selection and placement, fixtures and setup, assessment of precursor and work-up runs, and data review for response validity.
- Assist in troubleshooting unforeseen issues within your area of responsibility and provide solutions to advance trial activities.
- Manage reporting requirements for the project, including environmental engineering progress, issues, and technical reports to support qualification activities.
- Communicate areas of concern to the appropriate level of authority within the off-site trials site.
- Regularly update the business on progress, both programmatic and technical.
- Review schedules to identify risks and opportunities and escalate these effectively.
- Travel regularly to the trials site (South East Coast) to support in-person meetings and data reviews with the off-site trials team.
What do you need?:
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in planning, managing, and delivering small to medium-sized work packages.
- Expertise in environmental engineering within the defence sector or a relevant industry.
- Knowledge of vibration, shock, temperature, and humidity environments, and their applicability to various products at different life cycle stages.
- Understanding of environmental test processes, measurements, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with international Environmental Standards (DEF STAN 00-035, AECTP 300, AECTP 400, MIL-STD 810, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills and excellent problem-solving abilities.
