Job Overview:

Our client is a well-known National MEP Subcontractor, part of a larger Main Contracting business. They are delivering a £110 million MEP project in the Reading area spanning 4 years on site. The company is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to coordinate all Electrical engineering functions and ensure a successful outcome that meets the clients' technical and commercial requirements. Due to the project's location and sensitivity, applicants must hold UK Citizenship, a valid UK passport with full work rights, and eligibility to obtain SC level Security Clearance.

Role:

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  1. Technically vet all procurement packages.
  2. Coordinate services for proper integration into the building and liaise with other disciplines.
  3. Oversee the production of all drawings, including plant and sub-contract layouts, to ensure coordination.
  4. Provide support to the Project Surveyor on commercial matters.
  5. Undertake and manage all labor/direct material matters.
  6. Conduct regular audits of the Productivity Scheme and ensure completion with the Foreman/Site Manager.
  7. Issue labor targets ahead of work activities on site.
  8. Progress the site production report regularly on site with Foreman/Site Manager.
  9. Maintain accurate records of labor and material elements used in the prefabricated sections of the project.
  10. Manage technical and progress issues related to Plant and Sub-Contractor elements using the technical submission process.
  11. Support the Site Manager on any installation matters.
  12. Maintain Procurement Schedule, Technical Submission, and Drawings.
  13. Conduct regular Sub-Contract Project Reviews with the Site Manager to plan, progress, and monitor installations.
  14. Support the Project Manager in all project-related matters and act as Project Manager in their absence.
  15. Represent the company on internal and external issues.
Qualifications / Experience:

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, HNC, or ONC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. A suitable master’s degree may be advantageous.
  • Previous project engineering experience is recommended.
  • Several years of experience working in the engineering field.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • The ability to motivate staff.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work overtime if required.
