About the Role
Join Yarrow Heights School as the Head of Engagement, a pivotal role within the Senior Leadership Team, dedicated to enhancing our innovative approaches to pupil engagement. As lead, you will be a role-model and support the school in continuing to foster a safe, calm, and positive school environment which supports our pupils’ behaviour, attitudes, and their engagement to and enjoyment of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership : Support the Headteacher and SLT in managing and shaping the school's future, providing inspirational leadership and innovative strategies.
- School Development : Lead whole-school direction on our Alternative Curriculum provision and pupil engagement, staying current with educational and SEMH initiatives.
- Manage: Be responsible for the school’s Alternative Curriculum and Personal Development programmes working collaboratively with these teams and across the school.
- Engagement : Promote high levels of pupil attendance, engagement, and positive behaviour which allows them to fully engage with their learning and environment. Helping them to build self-respect, respect for others and for their environment.
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Work with internal and external stakeholders to remove barriers to attendance and learning through proactive programmes of engagement such as Duke of Edinburgh, Outdoor education, and career development, including overseeing Work Experience placements.
- Reporting & Analysis : Create and present detailed analysis, and reporting, around pupil engagement to SLT and Governors, using data to inform and innovative strategies.

- Role model positive, ‘can-do’ attitudes, high levels of energy and expectation.
- Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing initiatives, promoting equality, inclusion, and diversity.
- Deliver and participate in training sessions and professional development.

Requirements:
Experience:
- Higher Education to degree level or equivalent work-based experience manging behaviour and attitudes initiative at a middle/senior leader level.
- Proven ability in leadership and management skills
- Experience of accessing captured data to produce and present on detailed, analytical reports
- Proven experience of devising and implementing strategic whole school objectives with ability to monitor and provide meaningful, measured outcomes.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent proven interpersonal, verbal/written communication and listening skills.
- High level of self-motivation and the ability to work on own initiative.
- Ability to work as part of a team, be wholly approachable and able to quickly establish excellent working relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Sound knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Highly effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills

Yarrow Heights School is a mixed 7-19, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs.
