Avid Games are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) with a strong background in mobile gaming to lead their operations and help Avid become the world’s leading developer and publisher of digital TCGs. Established in 2012, Avid Games publish Cards, the Universe and Everything - the only Global Top 10 TCG that isn’t based on pre-existing IP. Winner of multiple awards, the game was described as ‘truly one of a kind’ by Apple. Since launch, CUE has generated over £10M revenues from 3M downloads.

Over the last nine years, the Avid Collectibles Engine has powered apps for various third party brands such as the NFL, Discovery Channel, F1 and the NBA. Backed by renowned VC Mercia, and with a second new IP on the horizon, They have ambitious plans for growth, having already grown revenues by 500% from 2021 to 2023.

The new COO will be a key member of the senior management team, reporting only to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). You will work closely with the rest of the SMT to drive growth plans that will ensure Avid’s long-term sustainability. You will set goals, improve operational efficiency, and foster a high-performance team culture.

The ideal candidate will use their extensive industry network to secure partnerships and expand the business reach, and will play a crucial role in driving Avid Games forward.

As COO you will work closely with the CEO on a wide range of matters relating to the performance and goals of the business. including operations (Financial, HR, Legal), business strategy, communications and building and maintaining relationships with developers, publishers and investors. You will use your experience as a senior leader in the games industry to inform process improvements and to open new doors and opportunities for Avid Games.

The goal of the COO position is to secure the functionality of the business to drive extensive and sustainable growth, so we expect you to be an experienced and efficient leader. If you have excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethics, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with CEO on key functions including Business Strategy, Finance, HR, & Legal.

Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, setting and monitoring quarterly goals in conjunction with the SMT.

Oversee performance management while maintaining a creative, high-autonomy culture that ensures team members can thrive Build, maintain and revise forecasts and compile monthly reports to the Board

Ensure regular and thorough communication with investors and build third party relationships consistent with the goals of the business

Leverage industry contacts to build partnerships, secure opportunities, and broaden our network.

Ensure that internal processes are optimised towards targets.

Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention of employees.

Proven experience in a senior operational role within the mobile gaming industry.

A rich network of industry contacts and a track record of leveraging relationships for business growth.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a remote team and influence stakeholders at all levels

A strategic mind and a knack for identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.

Knowledge of industry best practices and experience in implementing process improvements

Strong financial competency

A friendly, outgoing personality, with the ability to represent Avid Games in various industry forums and events.

Ideal Qualifications

- Extensive experience in the mobile gaming sector, with a minimum of 7 years in senior management roles.

- Demonstrated success in operations and leadership

- MBA would be a plus
