Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit for a Financial Controller to join a Civil engineering business in Sheffield.
Develop new accounting system and controls
* Manage all accounting operations including purchase ledger, sales ledger, general ledger & inventory.
* Compile the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
* Prepare, analyse and publish monthly financial statements
* Manage the year-end financial audit process
* Assist with day-to-day management of banking - including but not limited to, cash receipts and payment postings, bank reconciliations, supplier payments
* Customer and supplier account reconciliations
* Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
* Cashflow analysis
* Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
* Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Experience with creating financial statements
* Professional certification such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA or qualified by experience (QBE with relevant experience)
* 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
* Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
* Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
* Experience of statutory accounts also preferred
