The Junior department of Windermere School, situated at our Elleray Campus, is where personal pathways are nurtured and adventurous learning lies at the heart of the curriculum. This is a great opportunity for an outstanding and enthusiastic teacher with a creative and adventurous approach to teaching and learning both inside and outside of the classroom. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Core and Foundation Subjects. Candidates should be proficient in the use of ICT for all purposes, including monitoring and tracking, and they should possess an excellent standard of digital literacy. The ideal candidate will have the energy and desire to be an outstanding Class Teacher with the ability to teach across Key Stage 2. Applicants should have the wish to become enthusiastically involved in the wider life of this happy and forward thinking school, which, as a boarding school, would involve an element of pastoral care and additional duties within our boarding community.

FORM TEACHER RESPONSIBILTIES
Maintaining and updating relevant Pastoral Profiles for the class.
Assisting with the assessing, monitoring and tracking of pupils in accordance with the requirements set out by the Head.
Liaising with the Boarding House staff regarding the welfare of all boarders in the class.
Writing and thoroughly checking reports, attending parents’ meetings and communicating regularly with parents, either face to face or via email, telephone, etc.
Managing ‘Form Time’ effectively, updating Pupil Pathway files and recording achievements and behaviours on SIMS.
A Form Teacher should have a continuous sense of awareness of their Form, looking out for them collectively and individually in terms of:
-Their safeguarding and welfare
-Being proud of their achievements
-Behaviour and reputation
-Organisation
-Being their first point of contact for all pastoral issues.
TEACHING
To deliver high quality teaching and learning to pupils within Key Stage 2.
To inspire children with enthusiasm and a love of learning.
To have a sound knowledge of the requirements of the school’s curriculum.
To prepare and plan for teaching, taking account of the requirements of all children within their class.
To prepare and develop teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral arrangements.
To use a range of strategies for teaching and maintaining classroom behaviour in accordance with the school policy.
To assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils; academically, socially and personally.
To ensure that work is marked regularly, and in line with school policy.
Be responsible for the effective management of the classroom to encourage independent learners in line with the school ethos.
Supervise the work of any support staff, including teaching assistants, who are assigned to work within the class.
Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a pleasant, stimulating and positive learning environment.
Ensure children’s work is valued by managing the provision of good displays in the classroom.
Be punctual and set a good example to the children.

Report maintenance requests and follow up any outstanding issues
Have a rolling programme of more intense cleaning jobs to facilitate over time
To fulfil all professional duties as laid down in the Conditions of Employment of School Teachers
To address personal targets as identified within their appraisal.
To participate in further training and professional development as appropriate, and use the outcomes to impact upon the teaching and learning of pupils.
To work as part of a professional team.
To implement the aims, policies and ethos of the school.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for the safeguarding and welfare of the children at Windermere School. Accountable to the Head of Elleray.
The post-holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact, will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.
