Great Senior Sister/Charge Nurses have a strong sense of ownership. We currently have a Secondment position for a Senior Sister Charge Nurse for Ophthalmology
You will ensure that the highest standards of care are maintained across the service. The role is vital to supporting quality improvement and assurance processes which underpin the provision of safe and effective, care.
Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/ clients and relatives/ carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with local and national targets
The Ophthalmology department based on A Floor contains the outpatient clinic (with in excess of 50,000 attendances annually),emergency eye centre, glaucoma unit, low vision suite, prosthetic eye suite, orthoptics, ophthalmic imaging and electrophysiology.
This opportunity requires an individual with drive, ambition and a genuine desire to improve the lives of Ophthalmology patients through offering opportunities to be involved in high quality care in an outpatient setting .

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 12 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.
NMC registered
Continuous professional development
First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes)
Relevant experience at junior sister/ charge nurse role
Previous experience deputising for Senior Sister / Charge Nurse
Specialist training/ experience relevant to role including: oManaging staff attendance oStaff Development /progression oDuty rosters oPatient safety
Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis and with groups.
Ability to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service Inc. on-call, evenings and weekends.
