Job Title: Technology Planning Project Manager - GCAP

Salary: £54,793 + depending on experience

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage delivery of Technology Planning: Responsible for project management of Technology planning across the Technology Portfolio (with JP/IT), ensuring aligned and integrated plans (consolidated schedules / Route Maps).
  • Coordinate "technology sourcing" recommendations - establishing which nation is involved in / responsible for leading / delivering elements of the Technology Portfolio. This involves driving a technical (best athlete) approach and working with key stakeholders including long term 'Work Allocation' team to ensure programme and business drivers.
  • Portfolio plan integration: Manage the Integration of the technology planning activities and consolidated schedules covering Airframe, Mission Systems and Flight Systems, both nationally and internationally.
  • Develop the Integrated Demonstration Group strategy: drive development of the philosophy and scope/plans for Integrated Demonstration Groups which de-risk advanced technology integration across complex sub-systems and where appropriate progressing opportunities to utilise(prove/de-risk) transformational techniques and enablers.
  • Support Design & Development bid activities: Work with the D&D bid team to define scope of future phases of activity and coordinate technology inputs, coordinating with Deliver Japan/Italy 'Pilot Projects': Deliver bi-lat/tri-lat Technology Projects to time, cost and quality - working with the relevant Control Account Managers, technical teams, business functions, UK MoD & partners and Japanese Industry
  • Deploy Reporting & Governance: Ensure a robust management structure is in place within technology planning, including relevant KPIs and deploying Agile management methods while aligning with business mandates. Report status of the programme to the WP2 Lead

Your skills and experiences:

  • Project Management experience, in particular Project Delivery
  • Knowledge of quality, estimating, project control, finance, and procurement
  • Experience of customer and supplier/partner facing roles (preferably on collaborative programmes) is essential
  • Experience of working in contract delivery / contract management activities is essential
  • Knowledge and experience of Engineering and Commercial (contracts)
  • Experience of product development and/or technology de-risking is highly desirable

The GCAP/FCAS AP team:

GCAP/FCAS Acquisition Programme is a strategically important programme that delivers the concepting, design, development, build, qualification + certification and through life support of the next generation combat air system. The programme is currently in the concept phase and this vacancy provides an opportunity to join this exciting programme at its early stage, working within the technology development team responsible for maturing a number of novel areas critical to the product performance, operational capability and GCAP timeline.
