Maintenance Engineer (double days) Hitchin Monday-Friday rotating days Salary Competitive Are you a passionate Maintenance Engineer with a food industry background, looking for an exciting new role? Coulter Elite Resourcing is currently looking for a Maintenance Engineer to work with one of their well-established and very successful clients based in Hitchin. Principle Responsibilities for the Maintenance Engineer:

  • Maintain and repair plant and machinery as required (both Electrical & Mechanical work).
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Carry out work orders to repair and maintain plant and equipment.
  • Order spares and parts as necessary.
  • Assist other Engineers and Contractors with installations & repairs.
  • Complete work on all areas, plant & equipment, both electrical & mechanical as required, that are within your skills, training & abilities whilst working safely at all times.
  • Adhere to the company’s hygiene, Environment, Health and Safety policies, systems, and safe working practices.
  • Respond to all departments for maintenance requests using the mobile phone/radio provided.
  • Provide training and support to any member of the engineering team where required.
  • Carry out any reasonable request as requested by any member of management within the reasonable scope of the role.
Person specification:- Engineering Core Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in both Mechanical & Electrical disciplines (Preferred Bias 70% / 30% or 30% / 70%)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of Engineering / Maintenance working within food manufacturing / processing or pharmaceutical industries
  • Must have worked within a multi-skilled multi-disciplined team in a fast-moving manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to work independently or assisted on all aspects of maintenance work
IF Mechanically biased:
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification to C&G /NVQ Level 2 equivalent or higher / or achieved full Apprenticeship (Certificates to be made available)
  • Demonstrable mechanical fitting abilities /experience
  • Ability to read and interpret Mechanical / assembly drawings.
  • Good pneumatic skills
IF Electrically biased:
  • Minimum City & Guilds 236 or equivalent / or achieved full Apprenticeship (Certificates to be made available)
  • Good electrical installation & machine fault finding skills
  • BTEC ONC or HNC (Electrical / Electronic) (Certificates to be made available)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings.
  • Panel wiring skills
This is a full-time permanent Maintenance Engineer role, 45.25 hours per week rotating shift. The benefits include 25 days holidays plus Bank Holidays and a life cover or 2 x annual salary and private medical insurance after passing probation.
