We are working with a practice that is on the lookout for a Head Vet to lead their fabulous team in Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to spearhead the continuous improvement of the clinical standards and services and to upskill colleagues to support us in their aim of being a centre of clinical excellence. What we’re looking for

Our new Head Vet will be a key member of our surgery’s management team. We’re looking for someone with a high level of clinical expertise who is passionate about delivering outstanding care. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable in a leadership role with the drive and passion to deliver against a strategic vision, coaching and inspiring our team to consistently deliver gold standard, evidence-based care.

Our Head Vet salaries start from £65,000, but negotiable, depending on experience. The required working pattern is 4 days a week with 1:4 weekends. No OOH but we do need our Head Vet to be on call if they have any overnight inpatients.

In our team, we currently have 4 RVNs and 2 Veterinary Surgeons, with a graduate joining us in September. One of our Veterinary Surgeons has a clinical interest in exotics, and the other is enhancing her imaging skills, so there’s definitely no shortage of interesting cases coming through our doors We pride ourselves on the training and support we offer to students and we’re delighted to say previous students have joined us on a permanent basis once qualified. We’re constantly working on new initiatives to support skill gaps and we make sure CPD is continuous and happening across all levels in our surgery.

We’ve worked hard to make sure our practice has a friendly, local neighbourhood feel and we’ve built strong links with the local community through hosting events, fundraising and delivering educational initiatives. This makes our practice a really positive place to work Our reception team are renowned for their warm welcomes and the support they give to team members and clients alike.
