East Anglia, United Kingdom ISS Facility Services UK Full time

  • Salary plus benefits
  • Mon to Fri
  • Site based in Stevenage

Here at ISS, as one of the UK's premier Facilities Management (FM) providers, we are now looking for a Junior Health & Safety Officer to join their client's Manufacturing and Production facility in Stevenage.

The client are in the defence sector and this is a large, complex, critical environment, where we are deploying a team of engineers to maintain Mechanical and Electrical systems.

Some systems are highly specialist and require subcontractor support. This role here is to ensure the contractors are compliant from a H&S perspective by assessing subcontractor RAMs and to then issue Permits to Work.

Due to the range of engineering works across the site, this role will expose you to different areas of Health and Safety in the built environment, and is therefore a fantastic opportunity for a developing H&S professional.

We are very happy to consider applicants with an IOSH, who are thinking of, or starting to go through a NEBOSH. For a good candidate we can potentially look at funding their NEBOSH.

Actions of the role will include:

  • Responsible for sub-contractor prequalification, reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements, delivering subcontractor inductions, issuing Work Authorisations and Permits to Work to ensure the safe delivery of work across site.
  • Liaison with sub-contractor groups, and account key stakeholders, to ensure the timely issue of work authorisations & permits to work in line with procedural requirements.
  • Plan and prioritise works, in collaboration with key stakeholders, to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all relevant sub-contractor H&S information is proactively obtained and thoroughly reviewed. Ensure all relevant risks and associated control measures have been robustly adopted prior to authorisation of works.
  • Audit and inspection of sub-contractor works to ensure adherence to procedural and legislative requirements to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Report, investigate and drive corrective/preventative actions in instances of sub-contractor violations and non-conformances to prevent re-occurrences.
  • Compliance reporting to demonstrate operational transparency and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Development of strong relationships with sub-contractor groups to drive a culture of trust, collaboration and adherence

We need from you:

  • An IOSH plus some H&S experience within the built environment
