The RoleMedivet have an opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join the team as a lead vet at our practice in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.
Our veterinary surgeons are at the front line of delivering exceptional care and play an integral part of each one of our sites, from routine health checks to advanced surgeries you’ll work directly with patients and clients to offer care that’s bespoke to them and provide essential support to lead vets or branch partners in delivering exceptional care.

Th is is a permanent, full-time role working 39 hours per week over four days plus 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekends but we're open to being flexible where we can so get in touch and let us know what works for you.
Salary package of up to £70,000 PA

Key Accountabilities- Manage the sales performance, budget and overall profitability of the practice on a day-to-day basis.
- Line management of the team.
- Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock.
- Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues.
- Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds.
- Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required.
- Prescribe medication.
- Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations.
- Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock
- Carry out euthanasia in cases where it is deemed absolutely necessary.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain patients medical records.
- Registered with the RCVS.
- Qualified MRCVS.
- Commitment to animal welfare.
- Ability to keep on top of practise protocols and procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills.
Hucknall has a four vet team, one of which has a certificate in surgery, supported by a head nurse, four RVN's, five SVN's and three patient care assistants.
The practice is fully equipped including a separate operating theatre, digital x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy with access to MRI and CT scanner at our orthopaedic referral clinic - East Midlands Referrals.
