Job Description
Our EMEA Gas, Power and Emissions desk operates within a fast-paced and analytically focused market environment to provide innovative hedging solutions and access to the market for clients. The desk continues to expand its capabilities, and we are seeking a Structured Gas and Power Trader.
The role focuses on facilitating structured transactions within EMEA gas and power markets for a broad range of clients to meet their risk management or commodity financing objectives. You will work closely with our partners in sales and banking to drive the growth of the gas and power franchise within EMEA.
As an ED level trader on the desk, you need to be comfortable pricing and managing material risks related to structured energy transactions. Traders on our desk need to analyze and react to the latest developments in the global energy transition in the context of generating commercial ideas and risk-management actions. Our work environment is fast-paced and challenging, so the ability to think and react quickly under pressure is essential.
Job Responsibilities- Structure and execute complex and bespoke transactions within the EMEA gas and power space.
- Price and manage physical and derivative risks in both liquid and illiquid benchmarks across the EMEA gas and power space.
- Play a key role in setting up access to new markets to allow the desk to harvest future commercial opportunities within the structured trading space.
- Drive growth of the bank's structured customer franchise via design and delivery of risk management and asset optimization solutions for both an existing and future client base.
- Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in terms of steering the growth of in-house proprietary pricing models and fundamentals analysis and, with appropriate guidance and support, help build out further analytical infrastructure as per business requirements.
- Significant (director level) experience in structured gas and power trading.
- Advanced understanding of the dynamics of gas and power options.
- Significant demonstrable experience trading European power and gas benchmarks both in a physical and derivatives context.
- Competency in understanding the logistical-delivery aspects of short-term gas and power trading.
- Solid understanding of power and gas fundamentals modelling and analysis.
- Proven track record of translating fundamental analysis and quantitative modelling of derivatives space into trading opportunities and asset optimization strategies.
- Full of initiative and resourcefulness with a strong desire to problem-solve in a commercial context.
- Strong team player that partners well with colleagues and can lead a diverse group of stakeholders through the various stages of a structured energy deal life cycle.
- Experience trading other commodity assets such as emissions and oil would be beneficial.
