Charity Treasurer

Baby Bank Network was set up in Bristol in June 2015 to help alleviate child poverty and support families at what may be a time of financial and emotional stress, whilst reducing waste and promoting reuse of items. We collect baby clothes, toiletries, equipment, cots, prams and toys that are pre-loved, and pass them on to families in need. We receive referrals from health visitors, children’s centre and other local professionals who work with vulnerable families. Our latest impact report is available on our website
We are seeking a dynamic finance professional to work as part of our Board and welcome applicants from those who may not yet have worked with a charity or Board. As Treasurer, as well as general governance, you will have specific responsibilities to oversee and support our CEO to present budgets, accounts, reports and financial statements to the Trustees . You will contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving financial direction to the organisation including overseeing financial policy and evaluating performance against agreed financial targets as we launch our new 5 year growth strategy.
We encourage candidates who can help increase the diversity of the Board so as to make our organisation more inclusive, especially those who have an interest in making a difference to the lives of families in Bristol.
Local – we help young families thrive with the help of donations and support from our community and our amazing volunteers working to get items to families who need them most.
Sustainable – we work with our local community and reuse and recycling projects to promote good environmental practice. We aim to minimise waste and redistribute all suitable donations.
Collaborative – we will work with our local referral partners to help us reach families most in need and seek to support and work with other organisations whose goals are in line with our own.
The Board meets approximately every 6 weeks, usually in the evening and via MS Teams or in person. You may also have other ad hoc tasks to be undertaken in between meetings to provide advice and guidance to the leadership team on specific issues and projects and from time to time we ask Trustees to support the charity in one off fundraising events.
Whilst, local knowledge of Bristol is desirable, we are happy to receive applications from candidates who would undertake the role remotely.
