Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Watch Buyer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the watch industry and a proven track record in buying roles. This role involves building and nurturing strong relationships with brand representatives, maximising sales opportunities, negotiating pricing deals, and collaborating closely with various teams within the company. Some travel to trade shows within the UK and Europe will be necessary for networking and pursuing new brands.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management

• Build and nurture strong relationships with sales representatives from various brands, including our existing portfolio and pursuing new brands with the wider team.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the best pricing and quality of goods.
• Serve as a key point of contact for all new product-related enquiries.

Product Selection & Purchasing

• Maximise sales opportunities by identifying high-potential and advertised lines and ordering new products.
• Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their offerings.
• Negotiate deals with brands, including preferential terms and promotions, while utilising business knowledge of budget and expected sell-through time to increase gross margin.
• Place orders and manage purchase agreements with suppliers.

Inventory Management

• Monitor and place regular reorders, monitor sell-through of stock, manage stock age, and implement repricing strategies in coordination with warehouse stock management.
• Forecast stock appropriately for busy periods, taking calculated risks based on available opportunities.
• Monitor inventory levels and forecast future purchasing needs based on sales trends.

System Management

• Input product information into our systems and collaborate closely with the marketing team for effective product listings and promotions.
• Upload new product information, images, and specifications onto our inventory system.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data in procurement systems.

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to coordinate product launches and promotions.
• Communicate new product launches and features to the marketing team for promotional activities.
• Communicate training opportunities from brands with staff regularly, including shop staff, customer service, and other team members (e.g., Myagi and brand-specific platforms).
• Utilise administrative assistants to ensure seamless communication and efficient information sharing across the organisation, such as chasing product information and liaising with brands on behalf of the buyer.
• Communicate and escalate opportunities and brand issues with business stakeholders to resolve any issues that may arise.

Trade Shows & Networking

• Attend buying meetings as required; some travel may be necessary.
• Travel to trade shows and industry events in the UK and Europe.
• Network with potential new brands and suppliers to expand our product offerings.

Support & Guidance

• Provide expert guidance and support to the Warehouse Stock Manager and Warehouse Operations team.
• Analyse supplier performance and implement improvements where necessary.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer in the watch industry or a related luxury goods sector.
• Proven experience in finding new business opportunities and negotiating supplier contracts.
• Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes.

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of luxury watch brands, products, and market trends.
• Familiarity with fashion jewellery is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and forecast trends.
• Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management.
• Proficiency in inventory management software, data uploading, and Office / Google Workspace.
• Ability to analyse data and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education
