To provide a comprehensive sexual health service, to the local population. Taking responsibility for the day to day management of clinics whilst ensuring a quality service is delivered providing high standards of patient care.
As an autonomous practitioner undertake independent consultations with patients, including assessing, monitoring and evaluating individual patient's contraceptive and sexual health needs including referral to other Health Professionals as required2. Provide advice and cytology screening as appropriate, according to local policies.To work within the community and hospital setting.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

To ensure the clinic operates with minimum delay for patients. Assessing, monitoring and evaluating patients individual contraceptive and sexual health needs including:a. Issuing of appropriate contraceptive methods and advice according to PGDs, local policies and guidelinesb. Issuing of appropriate treatment and advice for all sexually transmitted infections according to PGDs, local policies and guidelines.Pregnancy testing, giving results, counselling, advice and referral where appropriate.To ensure all local policies regarding issue of contraceptive supplies and treatments for STIs are adhered to4. To deal with telephone enquiries related to contraceptive and sexual health (including HIV) issues.


To ensure that all results are effectively processed according to local policies and guidelines8. To undertake partner notification when necessary and refer to other Health Professionals as required9. To undertake sexual health promotion and refer to other health professionals as required10. To provide up-to-date and relevant information to other professional/non-professional staff, which is within the scope of their professional practice, including supporting junior staff within the service12. To undertake cytology screening, sexually transmitted infection screening, HIV testing & 1st Issue of Hormonal Contraception, according to local protocols and Patient Group Directions, following appropriate training


Be able to open up and secure the building when leaving as and when required.To be a flexible, effective member of the team and provide cover for other relevant staff during absences as appropriate4. To undertake any other duties/training that may be required appropriate to the post holders position, experience and competence
Contraception & Reproductive Health Certificate (ENB 901/R71 or equivalent postregistration Diploma/degree level module) and/or willingness to undertake and maintain DFSRH qualification
Ability to be a Clinical Mentor (ENB 998/997 or equivalent post-registration degree level module) following appropriate training
Degree (health related) or equivalent

Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation Course (STIF) or equivalent experience
Care and provision for HIV/AIDS (ENB 280 or equivalent)
Counselling skills/certificate

Post-registration clinical experience within Sexual Health field (or equivalent experience)
Recent clinical experience within Sexual Health/Contraception field ( or equivalent)
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of clinical issues within Sexual Health/Contraception
Evidence of maintaining own level of knowledge and expertise within Sexual Health/Contraception
Experience & knowledge of Fraser guidelines/Child Protection & vulnerable adults issues

Ability to undertake a sexual health consultation autonomously
Ability to undertake cytology following appropriate training.
Ability to undertake sample collection for STI screening and pregnancy testing (bloods/urine/swabs etc) following appropriate training)
Ability to undertake client consultation and administer drugs/treatments according to PGDs following appropriate training
Ability & experience in participating with surgical procedures and treatments (for example cryotherapy and colposcopy)
Evidence of ability to relate to the needs of young people
To travel between sites (internal and external)
