About the Company:

A leading architectural client providing professional architectural related services including urban design, architecture and graphic design is on the lookout for an Urban Designer to join their team. You will play a crucial role in contributing to exciting residential development projects that shape communities and enhance lives. The company focuses on delivering residential design solutions, particularly on challenging and sensitive sites. Their portfolio of work covers master planning, urban extensions and mixed-use communities; residential development; house type portfolio work; extra care accommodation; care and retirement villages; commercial offices, retail and hotel development and the occasional large private house.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on various urban design projects, including master plans, outline applications, and design codes.
  • Prepare and oversee supporting drawings, character assessments, conceptual and feasibility studies, development briefs, and detailed design guidance.
  • Manage and support small to mid-size urban design projects, collaborating with a wider team.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Play a key role in delivering large strategic master plans.
  • Ensure high-quality design outputs and contribute to the successful delivery of complex urban design projects.

Key Requirements:

  • 3+ years of UK-based experience in an architectural or urban design practice, with a focus on residential and mixed-use projects.
  • A postgraduate (Master’s) degree in Urban Design , ideally with a background in architecture. Candidates with different backgrounds may be considered based on their portfolio and relevant experience.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional creative design and graphic skills .
  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, for effective teamwork and engagement with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Proficiency in design and visualization software, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, and/or SketchUp.
  • Strong hand-drawing abilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, workload, and deadlines while maintaining focus and professionalism.
  • A strong willingness to learn, share knowledge, and an ambition to grow and progress professionally.

The salary for this role is £28,000 to £36,000 Dependent on Experience, with 21 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata), Christmas shutdown, Company pension scheme, Cycle to work scheme, Eyecare Scheme, Employee retail discount scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, Regular social events, Promotion opportunities, Good CPD programme.
