The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and procurement teams to ensure product designs meet safety, quality, and delivery standards. This is a key position for those with strong technical and leadership capabilities. Key responsibilities: Lead design efforts using AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Inventor, and Tekla for site layouts, parts, assemblies, and technical documentation Manage design standardisation, aiming for 80% reuse and 20% new designs Oversee design team activities and co-ordinate third-party design work Collaborate in client-facing meetings and lead minor study works Conduct mechanical and structural model interface checks Ensure compliance with industry standards (BS, ISO, CE/UKCA, ATEX) Support the Group Head of Design with KPIs on delivery, accuracy, and standardisation Mentor junior designers and engineers, providing technical guidance Required skills & experience: HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering with a time-served apprenticeship Experience in bulk material handling and heavy engineering design Proficient in 3D drawing packages (Solid Edge, Inventor, AutoCAD) and knowledgeable in design/drawing standards Understanding of manufacturing processes, medium to heavy fabrication, and risk assessments Experience in value engineering and continuous improvement processes Strong communication skills and willingness to travel as needed This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a company that promotes innovation, continuous improvement, and professional development.
