This full-time role involves providing tailored support to a Year 5 pupil with Autism, who will be moving up to Year 6 in September. The pupil has specific social and emotional needs and can become overstimulated at times. We are looking for someone who can balance being firm yet nurturing to help the pupil thrive academically and socially. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-1 support to a Year 5 pupil with Autism, ensuring their needs are met within the classroom and during other school activities.
  • Implement individualized strategies to support the pupil’s learning and emotional well-being.
  • Manage and de-escalate situations where the pupil may become overstimulated.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other school staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Accompany the pupil to Year 6, continuing consistent support and adapting strategies as needed.
Requirements:
  • Must be Level 2 or 3 qualified in a relevant subject.
  • Hold a current DBS check on the update service.
  • Experience working with children with Autism and managing social and emotional needs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with pupils while maintaining firm boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
