Alongside their mainline collections, the brand is on a mission to connect people through the ritual of food by collaborating with iconic restaurants and putting a luxury spin on merchandise.

PICANTE is currently recruiting for a industry leading junior / mid-weight menswear designer to work directly with the founders to design collections. From range planning to initial concepts to final designs, handing off tech packs and fabric assortments through to production. Whilst liaising with production and factories to ensure the critical path is met.

THE ROLE:

As a Menswear RTW designer you will be responsible for the design, creation, development and completion of each collection. Managing the full life cycle of each collection from design, product development, garment construction and production, through to styling and aftercare. You will work with the development team and in-house studio, working with external suppliers and freelancers, and working directly and reporting in to the company's directors.

The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of the brand, it's key product and future product goals. You will be responsible for developing initial design ideas and developing concepts into collections that reflect the design vision and fulfils quality, fit, margin and critical path expectations.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ideating and designing menswear product.
  • Developing initial brand designs and concepts into final designs.
  • Creating initial tech packs and adjusting technical drawings as required.
  • Coming up with new graphic designs.

Work closely with external product development team to:

  • Launch prototypes and full samples.
  • Sourcing of fabrics and trims including fabric testing, strike-off and lab dip approvals.
  • Create and maintain costings.
  • Work with external pattern cutters and sample machinists and ensure the critical path is maintained for each style.
  • Manage the critical path for all samples with factories.
  • Visit new and existing factories to launch styles, monitor developments and maintain positive relationships.
  • Liaise closely with suppliers throughout development and mitigate any technical issues.
  • Work with new and existing suppliers.
  • Ensure all samples adhere to price and margin objectives.
  • Coordinate and attend all reviews and fittings feeding comments back to the relevant pattern cutters or factories.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Degree in Fashion 
  • Tech pack development
  • CAD illustrations
  • Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Graphic / illustration skills would be great
  • Figma would be great
  • Excel 
  • Exceptional organisation skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of pattern and garment construction and finishing.
  • Excellent eye for detail.
  • Committed to achieving excellent quality.
  • Hands-on, positive team player with the ability to act quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible to work through expansion and change adhering to processes.

THE CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate must have exceptional design, product development and production experience working within RTW for a luxury or premium fashion brand. You must possess excellent fabric knowledge, numerical, garment construction and pattern cutting skills with experience working with suppliers, You must be a confident communicator with the ability to work with colleagues at a director level.
