DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The facilities team provides a safe, comfortable healing environment for our patients, visitors and caregivers by keeping the facility in peak operational condition.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Supervising Electrician is responsible for the oversight of the hospital’s electrical systems. This position oversees and performs the supervision, maintenance, coordination and installation of electrical systems within the facility. Doing day to day work with electrical systems Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. May install or service street lights, intercom systems, or electrical control systems. This position does not directly manage other caregivers, however, may be asked to review and provide feedback on the work of other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Utilizes Electrical Supervisor’s license for supervision of other electricians, LME’s, and contractors in the performance of tasks. Maintains electrical diagrams and schematics. Installs and/or coordinates repairs on hospital electrical systems.

Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on all facilities-related electrical equipment, systems, and infra-structure, to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency at all times. Troubleshoots and corrects any problems discovered, calls in and coordinates work of specialized contractors to correct problems outside the abilities of Plant Engineering. 

Writes work orders and trouble calls in the Plant Operations computerized maintenance management system. Closes out all PM’s, WO’s, and TC’s when jobs are completed.

Coordinates all electrical preventative and corrective maintenance. Coordinates and installs new services and oversees work of electrical contractors. Point of contact with electrical inspectors.

Provides cost estimates of requested electrical work.

Provides technical support for the Facilities Services Manager and facilities engineers.

Responds to fire alarms and code calls in accordance with established work instructions, performs security functions as needed. 

Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.

Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.

Direct or train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.

Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.

assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.

Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.

Assists with training of other hospital caregivers in security, life safety and utility procedures.

 Maintains familiarity with the correct safety procedures in the use of hand and power tools of the trade and wear protective clothing and safety gear when operating such tools.

Documents all work orders and preventive maintenance. Completes all work orders properly and accurately. Documents preventive maintenance completely and accurately

Assists with snow removal when adverse conditions dictate.

EDUCATION:

Required: Electrical or electronic courses required

Preferred: High school diploma or GED. College or trade school in related field preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required: Oregon Electrical-General Supervising Electrician license. Valid Oregon driver's license and meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements. Ability to travel to all St. Charles Health System worksites as required.

Preferred: Oregon Electrical-General Journeyman Electrician license.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Five years experience as a practicing electrician.

Preferred: Hospital electrical experience.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Continually (75% or more): Standing, walking, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing

Frequently (50%): Sitting, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 11-25 pounds.

Occasionally (25%): Climbing ladder/step stool, reaching overhead, Lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 25-50 pounds, Operation of Motor Vehicle, Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.

Rarely (10%): Keyboard Operation
