Job Description Summary: Renantis has partnered with BlueFloat Energy to develop and deliver Offshore Wind Projects across the UK.

The Partnership brings together the 2 companies with the aim of contributing to a world leading floating offshore wind industry in the UK, combining innovative technology with a plan to attract and grow a skilled Scottish workforce and stimulate a thriving local supply chain.

We have two floating wind sites in Scotland – Broadshore north of Fraserburgh and Bellrock east of Aberdeen, as well as the majority stake in the consortium with Ørsted to develop the Stromar project east of Wick.

We also secured bid success in the recent INTOG leasing round with two innovation projects, Sinclair & Scaraben, which lie adjacent to Broadshore.

In the Celtic Sea, we are developing two floating offshore wind projects, Llywelyn and Petroc located in Welsh and English waters, which could make a significant contribution to helping the UK achieve its 5GW target for floating offshore wind by 2030. Job Description:

For our Bellrock project we are looking for a Head of Engineering, willing to join a dynamic and fast growing environment.

The Head of Engineering reports directly to the Project Director and is responsible for delivering safety by design including design code compliance whilst ensuring the final design meets the environmental and business objectives as follows:

  • Lead the Engineering Team to develop the required windfarm design at each stage.

  • Oversee the Principal Designer deliverables for the planning, management, and coordination of safety by design across all work packages.

  • Conceptual Engineering – delivery of engineering inputs to the Design Envelope.

  • Preliminary Design – refinement of conceptual engineering within the Design Envelope and inputs to the Consent application.

  • Concept Selection – Reduction of multiple scenarios to one single concept.

  • Basis of Design – Creates the FEED technical specifications, Construction and O&M documents.

  • FEED – Develops the technical requirements for FEED and oversee the final design.

  • Manages the development of the technical scopes of work (e.g. the project MDR and technical work pack deliverables) across all technical packages for inclusion within the programme/ schedule.

  • Oversees the delivery of each of the technical work packages to meet the necessary key milestone dates within the programme.

  • Resources and manages the team of Discipline Engineers, Project Engineers and Interface Engineers.

  • Acts as overall Project Technical Authority and where required ensures each work package has an approved Technical Authority/ Lead assigned to the work package to deliver the required design scopes.

  • Identifies and assesses engineers against the relevant competency requirements for their role.

  • Health and safety risks to be as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).

  • Identifies technical risks and interfaces from each of the scopes of works and ensures each of these are managed across the technical work packages.

  • Oversees the delivery of each of the scopes of work within the technical work packages and ensures the deliverables meet the required programme deadlines.

  • Reports on scope changes and delays to ensure the impact is managed and mitigated.

  • Responsible for the Design Decision Log and identifies all technical scope changes and reports these to ensure any impact to technical risk, interfaces, costs and schedule are recorded, assessed and mitigated.

  • Develops the technical Employers Requirements for inclusion within each of the required contracts for each work package including the FEED stage of the project.

Required skills & experience:

  • Chartered Engineer or commensurate experience

  • Experience of design and construction of renewable energy projects

  • Experience in Offshore Wind

  • Pragmatic and creative problem solving

  • Excellent communication skills (internal and external stakeholders and partners, technical and non-technical)

  • Fluent English speaker

  • Team worker, ability to work in a multicultural environment
