Job description Trainee Herdsperson – Cheshire

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Trainee Herdsperson to join our team in Cheshire .

This is a trainee role, where you can learn from the current management team and develop your existing skills.

Our Farm
We are a mixed family Dairy farm in Cheshire covering 980 acres with mixed grass, wheat & maize, on farm. Our dairy herd consists of 750 pedigree Holstein cows with 600 youngstock, who are milked three times per day on a 40/40 herringbone parlour, with Auto ID, ADF. We operate on an all-year-round calving system with the dairy enterprise integrated into the arable operations. Our milk is supplied through a Muller Tesco contract and our data & records are completed using Uniform.

As a Trainee Herdsperson, you will be working closely with the Herd Manager to develop your career and progression in dairy farming. Working closely with the existing team with the overall running of the dairy unit. Supporting the daily management of the herd and ensuring animal welfare is the top priority.
– Tractor & Machinery operating
– Keeping the overall farm tidy and safe to operate.
– Working with the farm manager to understand how to effectively lead a team
– Ensuring the farm is kept tidy and safe to operate at all times
– A full UK Driving license.
– Telehandler & Forklift License preferred

You will need to demonstrate knowledge in agriculture. You will also need to show basic foundation skills in dairy farming.
