AVORD is a rapidly expanding cybersecurity testing and consultancy business. As part of our growth, we are seeking a Senior Penetration Tester to join our dynamic cybersecurity team.
The Role:
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, advanced penetration testing techniques, and a proven ability to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities. This role involves conducting comprehensive security assessments, simulating cyber-attacks, and providing actionable recommendations to strengthen our clients' security posture.
As testing may be conducted on or off UK client sites, candidates must reside and be eligible to work i n the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough penetration tests on a variety of systems, networks, applications, and environments to identify security weaknesses.
- Simulate cyber-attacks to evaluate security controls and uncover potential vulnerabilities.
- Perform vulnerability assessments, including web application, network, mobile, and cloud security testing.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and methodologies based on industry standards and best practices.
- Analyse and interpret test results, documenting findings in detailed reports providing actionable remediation recommendations.
- Collaborate with clients to tailor security solutions to their needs.
- Stay updated on security trends, tools, and emerging threats to ensure continuous improvement of testing methodologies.
- Assist in developing security training and awareness programs.
- Participate in incident response activities, providing expertise in forensic analysis and threat hunting.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of internal penetration testing tools and processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven, hands-on, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment experience.
- Relevant security certifications – e.g. OSCP, CEH, CISSP etc.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., OWASP, NIST, ISO 27001).
- Proficiency in penetration testing tools (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, Nessus, Kali Linux).
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and application security.
- Experience with scripting/programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience in Red Team operations and adversary simulations.
- Knowledge of cloud and container security (AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with threat intelligence and threat modelling.
- Experience with social engineering techniques and phishing campaigns.
