Digital Capability Manager – Early Careers / Outreach
Contract Term: 6 months
Contracting Authority: DWP
Location: Hybrid – 2 days from the Manchester office, remainder WFH/remote
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to:
· Run an effective welfare system that enables people to achieve financial independence by providing assistance and guidance into employment
· Create a fair and affordable welfare system which improves the life chances of children
· The Strategic Capability and Talent Team sit within DWP Digital’s Chief Operating Office. We oversee the Digital Capability Strategy and make sure that DWP Digital has the great diverse people it needs to deliver the best services and products to colleagues and citizens.

We are looking for someone with expertise working in talent pipeline / early careers / outreach who understands how best to build effective partnerships with education institutions and groups specialising in training; knows how to best build awareness of what working in Digital is like for young people and diverse groups in particular; You will review, scope and make clear recommendations on what the approach to outreach and early careers will be. The role may also involve some set up and implementation of initiatives or pilots.
As a Digital Capability Manager – Early Careers / Outreach, your main responsibilities will be:
· Ensuring high quality, standards and consistency across all activity
You’ll have relevant experience in:
· Proven solid experience of working in an entry / early careers role with expertise in scoping, developing, reviewing and executing talent pipeline and development initiatives. This may include work experience, apprenticeships, T Levels, internships, mentoring, careers workshops, diversity programmes
· Experience in outreach and working with education institutions and community/specialist groups with a careers/skills focus
· Project Management – able to plan effectively, deal with multiple high-pressure priorities and report effectively on progress
· confident and clear in articulating complex and detailed content; Experience of working within Government and Digital
