Data Protection Manager The Opportunity QBE European Operations is currently recruiting a Data Protection Manager for a well-established and successful Data Protection team. In the role you will assist, and where appropriate, deputise for the DPO in all aspects of the work within the team. Support

the absolute focus to ensure QBE is aware of its regulatory requirements and meets or exceeds these standards. Your new role Maintain detailed knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements for insurance / reinsurance and insurance intermediated business. This should include Lloyd’s requirements and extends to the UK / EEA and associated EO operational territories e.g. Canada,

DIFC. Be able to apply the knowledge to all tasks practically across the business.

Monitor regulatory developments and promote staff and management awareness. Coordinate responses to proposed regulatory updates / changes and ensure EO responds where appropriate.

Provide advice to the business on interpretation / impact / compliance with regulatory requirements.

Assist in updating / developing internal policies, guidance, Data Privacy dashboards and processes to ensure that the business meets its best practice standards.

Assist in monitoring and assessing ongoing compliance with UK / EEA and other EO territory regulatory requirements, where applicable, to ensure regulatory requirements are met e.g. potential personal data breaches, data subject rights, consent withdrawal,

cookie use and S29/35 requests. Coordinate agreed approach with all EO local offices and management teams.

Support the application of regulatory requirements where required e.g. new branches, appointed representatives, cover holders, and ensure accuracy, completeness, and submission to regulators via the Data Protection Officer.

Provide management information to senior stakeholders, including contribution to board and committee reports/ packs to ensure management are up to date and aware of key issues, trends, and risks.

Recognise and assess potential risks to objectives and where appropriate take action to remove or reduce impact or probability of risk occurring. Report and undertake formal risk or control assessment, if relevant.

Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key internal and external business stakeholders to ensure that service delivery meets the businesses expectations.

Ensure regular communication with peers across QBE Group, as appropriate to ensure consistency, transfer of knowledge and promotion of embedded data protection best practice.

Responsible for ensuring that the relevant areas of the intranet are accurate, user friendly, version controlled and up to data for relevant users.

Monitor EO business functions to ensure that regulatory processes are being carried out and obligations are being met.

Develop and coach EO staff to ensure the required standards of data protection compliance are embedded and continuously updated.

Ad hoc work as required, delivered within time and quality expectations.

About you Detail knowledge of GDPR and individual country nuances regulatory requirements

Direct knowledge of Data Subject Rights from identification to resolving the requirements within specified timeframes

Appropriate insurance experience to partner with the business to provide solutions to balance operational needs whilst maintaining required privacy regulatory obligations.

Create and use all training delivery methods, including presentation to large groups both internally or externally and building training material (Written and Computer Based Training)

Experience of using Privacy IT Configurable Tools, such as One Trust, to develop / amend Data Impact Assessments, Functional Reviews and Breach Management.

Comfortable representing the DPO advising on interrelated areas such as IT / Cyber / Data Governance

Experience representing the DPO at market meetings.

Strong stakeholder management skills that deliver a professional and respected advice service across all areas of a multi-jurisdictional insurance operation

Create and update document processes, guidelines relating to privacy obligations.

Research emerging multi-jurisdictional regulatory / legal guidelines, decisions / publication and assess the impact if any on EO QBE operations.
