Agratas is a global battery business within the Tata Group. We design, develop, and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable battery solutions for multiple applications to match our customers’ requirements.
PROCESS SAFETY ENGINEER:As a Process Safety Engineer at Agratas, you’ll be a subject matter expert. You will support our engineering and design teams to efficiently integrate process safety into the factory and process design. The role will be based in the UK with potential for some international travel.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:- Coordinate and provide expert technical support in process safety areas e.g. ATEX/DSEAR risk assessment, hazardous area classification, safe handling of combustible dusts, control of electrostatic hazards.
- Support the execution of process risk assessments and hazard analysis exercises, which underpin the delivery of a safe design (including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA).
- Advise and steer on application of local rules, international standards, and best practices to promote inherently safe design.
- Support process engineering teams to develop Basis of Safety for key process areas.
- Review specifications, design, and supply of equipment to ensure compliance with safety, permitting, and company procedures.
- Support the implementation & management of company engineering/design standards.
- Support compliance activities including COMAH and other applicable consents.
- Contribute to the development and continual improvement of Agratas process safety management system.
- Interpret and communicate complex requirements to the wider team to ensure understanding and buy-in.
- Coach others to champion a culture of process safety excellence across our global business.
Bachelor degree in related engineering subject (e.g. Chemical Engineering). Proven process safety experience in a high-hazard or COMAH regulated environment. Strong level of knowledge of process safety legislation, codes of practices and standards (e.g. DSEAR, pressure relief). Solid understanding and experience of hazard study methodologies. Understanding and experience of QRA techniques and analysis e.g. consequence modelling, OBRA. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, troubleshooting, root cause analysis with a strong attention to detail. Self-motivated, organized, and reliable team player. A strong ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection, and business. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Flexible and adaptable to meet the demands of the role and project environment.
