This is a new role to the school so you would have to establish your own timetable to cover across all our classes providing our pupils with access to learning in Art and Design. In liaison with the Headteacher and Deputy Head you would be able to make this role your own.

Fountain Head House School is a new and growing Independent Special day school based in Saltash in Cornwall. The school caters for pupils from 4 to 16 with a range of special educational needs.This position is new within the school and has many different strands to your responsibilities.

You will work closely with the schools senior management team to assist with the planning, development and delivery of an exciting art and design education that meets our curriculum and pupils needs. We are looking for an adaptable, responsible professional that can provide a high quality project based learning for all of our pupils.

Highlights of the role:

  • To support the school’s goal of providing a high quality Art & Design learning for pupils across age groups, including Project Based Learning.
  • To assist with the planning, development and delivery of an exciting Creative learning curriculum with focus on Art & Design production, skills, reflection and knowledge for pupils with a range SEND.
  • To support pupils to be able to attain their full potential by developing a varied programme of learning opportunities that enhance personal and social development.
  • To ensure that teaching and learning follow the school’s Curriculum Policy including adaptive learning and the Curriculum pathways.
  • To ensure that pupils make at least good progress from their starting points, that gaps in learning are addressed and pupils reach their potential in preparation for adult life.
  • To complete all scheduled assessing, recording and reporting events following specified deadlines to show the impact of teaching and learning for each pupil in the class.
  • To plan and deliver high quality Art & Design learning lessons across age groups, levels of ability, talents and interests under the guidance of the Deputy Headteacher.
  • To provide evidence for relevant qualification routes (e.g. ASDAN) in line with requirements and timescales under the guidance of the Assistant Headteacher – Qualifications & CAREERS
  • To evaluate sessions and to continually strive for improvement.
  • To take responsibility for the storage and maintenance of all necessary resources and equipment.
  • To record engagement and progress for each pupil from their starting points with reference to planned learning outcomes and, where applicable, to specific accredited programmes.
  • To attend and contribute to whole school events such as School Community Days including meeting with parents and carers where applicable.
  • To follow a planned timetable whilst retaining the flexibility to be accessible and available to meet pupils’ needs.
  • To understand and apply a wide range of strategies to engage and inspire pupils and reduce barriers to learning, so that the majority make good and consistent progress.
  • To work collaboratively with teachers regarding links to the curriculum and approaches to groups and/or specific pupils as part of the education team.

You will need to hold a qualification in Art and Design and have experience in working with SEND pupils then take a look at the job description and Personal Specification

You will be joining a committed Independent Special Educational school who is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role as well as the Right to Work in the UK.

We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’.

All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
