ABL Group is a leading global independent energy and marine consultant working in energy and oceans to de-risk and drive the energy transition across the renewables, maritime, and oil and gas sectors, offering the deepest pool of expertise across marine and engineering disciplines in more than 300 locations globally.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running for the ABL Aberdeen Energy business. Partnering with the department heads, you will ensure that the Aberdeen business delivers high quality operational support to our clients as well as ensuring that the P&L of the business is effectively monitored and managed. The role will also be tasked with identifying and progressing key business development activities to facilitate continued growth in the business.What you will be doing.
- Grow the ABL business in Aberdeen, supported by the Country Manager, other discipline Managers and the Regional Energy Business stream directors.
- Support the Country manager in the leadership and direction for the ABL Scotland business. You will report to the ABL Scotland Country manager for its delivery and performance.
- Plan, execute & monitor the staffing levels of the against budgets.
- Ownership over the ABL Aberdeen P&L. Monitor budgets and maintains detailed forecasting for the business.
- Ensure gross margin of the business remains in line with or exceeds requirements.
- Develop existing and new client relationships through direct contact, identify opportunities and where appropriate introduce new services.
- Provide motivational management for all operational / technical and administrative functions.
- Promote a ‘One Team’ behavior at all levels.
- Work alongside departmental managers to ensure that delivery of contracts is maintained at a high standard.
This position will be based at our office in Aberdeen and the job holder must have the legal right to live and work in the UK.
What we are looking for.Ideally, you will be a Senior or Principal Engineer, Naval Architect, or Operations Manager with a proven background in the marine, or offshore renewables or oil and gas sectors. More specifically, we are looking for the following:
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent education and experience, or a Master Mariner (STCW II/2) or Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) or equivalent with considerable survey / marine consultancy related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 10 years relevant experience within the offshore or marine industries.
- Proven people management experience.
- Fully conversant with marine and engineering consultancy to the offshore oil and gas markets.
- Experience in executing mid to large scale executive business plans and project development desirable.
- Exposure to vessel inspections and / or warranty surveys beneficial.
