Role Overview:

The ideal candidate will engage in the delivery of an agreed package of care to young people, adults and their families, with complex problems across the developmental spectrum, and managing these within the context of multidisciplinary working.

This will involve drawing upon complex assessment material to provide verbal and written systemic formulations, that aid evidence based clinical interventions for young people, adults and families presenting with highly complex problems. This will involve integrating and interpreting a range of highly complex material, across different contexts and at different levels of meaning.

Main Duties:

  • Contributing on the planning, evaluation and audit of practice, clinical pathways and protocols within the service area, leading on delegated projects.
  • The postholder will be responsible for their own caseload and for the assessment and provision of client’s and their carers/family therapeutic needs for those clients who have been diagnosed with an eating disorder.
  • They will create and deliver, participate in and sustain, highly developed therapeutic interventions with groups, young people, adults, families and professionals which will necessitate drawing from a broad spectrum of systemic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
  • The provision of highly specialist one-to-one clinical consultations to other clinical staff and thereby contribute directly to the formulation, diagnosis and intervention plans for families.
  • The provision of highly specialist one-to-one clinical consultations and supervision to other clinical staff and trainees on the use of family therapy and systemic psychotherapy techniques, and where appropriate, for working jointly with other team members in the provision of individual and group based programmes.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary meetings, child protection case discussions and reviews, etc. providing professional advice on individual care programme planning and other clinical matters as necessary.
  • As part of multidisciplinary team, work to provide input into the complex casework for people experiencing severe psychological difficulties.
  • To maintain the records of service in line with the policies of Orri.
  • To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of children, young people and their families.
  • To provide systemic advice, consultation and training to staff working with the client groups across a range of agencies and settings, where appropriate.

Desired Skills and Expertise:

  • Comply with the BACP or UKCP and AFT Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. Have completed an accredited family therapy and systemic psychotherapy training to MSC.
  • Preferred - a minimum of 3 years post qualification with experience of delivering individual, family therapy and group therapies. Therapists with experience in relevant settings will be considered.
  • Previous post registration experience of working with clients who have had an eating disorder.
  • Maintains professional portfolio for CPD recording learning outcomes through participation in internal and external development opportunities.
  • Review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills .
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Provide inclusive, culturally competent practice.
