AtkinsRéalis has one of the Rail industry’s largest signalling engineering teams. You will be joining a AtkinsRéalis Telecoms discipline. This together with AtkinsRéalis broader cross discipline capability means engineers have an unrivalled collective knowledge to tap into and learn from.
About The Role:
We are currently recruiting for Telecoms Site Engineer to become a key member of the team and have competency to deliver and manage all aspects of Telecoms installations and contract management within the Rail sector.
Operational Comms installation including but not limited to:
FTN, FTNx & Legacy installation experience.
Installation of fibre & Copper cabling systems.
CAT5&6 Installations.
Disconnection and At-Risk Management.
Telephony – Lineside SPT, PZT, ETD and Direct Line
Our Telecoms group have a proven record in project delivery from large to small multi/single discipline projects, providing engineering support and assurance on regional and national rail frameworks throughout the UK.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
As part of your day-to-day role, you are responsible for the following:
Ensure that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standard.
Report directly to the Lead Construction Engineer on the performance of the AtkinsRéalis Telecoms team and sub-contractors.
Liaise and assist the HSQE team to ensure due regard is given to safety / quality and environmental issues associated with projects. Including the Incident, close call, near miss reporting.
Install, splice optical fibre.
Install terminate lineside copper cable.
Install railway telecoms equipment & racks associated with project build.
Manage all project materials through the correct procedures and make sure all materials are ordered on time.
Ability to interpret and implement technical designs – Familiar with TENE.
Support projects at mobilisation & demobilisation of sites.
Support the CRE by providing all installation documents – ITPs.
Maintain an engineering logbook.
Support projects by maintaining & providing as built information.
Ensure that that the potential for design change is notified to the project engineer at the earliest opportunity to allow the CRE/designer to review and provide alternatives.
Coach and mentor junior staff for testing & Installation activities.
Driving Licence.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Project safety management experience.
Working knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
Basic IT skills linked to good document management.
Fibre Optics install, jointing and testing.
Copper cabling install and testing.
Good understanding of IP networks deployment.
