Role overview

Are you passionate about safeguarding against fraudulent activities and ensuring a seamless experience for genuine customers? Are you skilled in developing and implementing robust strategies to combat identity theft, digital payment fraud, and bonus abuse? If so, tombola is seeking a dedicated and strategic-minded individual to join our team as a Fraud Strategy Manager.

Role purpose

You’ll take charge of overseeing the day-to-day management of fraud prevention efforts, with a primary focus on optimising transactional defence systems. Your responsibilities will extend to ensuring that fraud risk remains within acceptable limits, losses are kept within budget constraints, and the impact on operational efficiency and genuine customer experiences is minimized.

The Fraud Strategy Manager will be instrumental in driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge strategies aimed at protecting tombola against various forms of fraud, including identity theft, digital payment fraud, and bonus abuse. Additionally, you will lead the transformation of our fraud detection capabilities, ensuring that they align with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement & manage the ongoing monitoring of payment fraud detection systems to ensure that they are performing optimally and in line with risk appetite.
  • Work with our Risk Specialists to ensure that detailed root-cause analysis is undertaken to identify control and/or process/procedure failings that are driving fraud attacks.
  • Create & embed escalation processes to control owner(s) to ensure that any required changes can be developed and implemented.
  • Continuous optimisation of associated Fraud strategies to respond to ever changing marketplace & regulatory landscape.
  • Work closely with the Customer Risk & Fraud operational teams to ensure effective implementation of risk management processes are in place.
  • Utilise existing and new data sources to minimise both fraud loss and player disruption.
  • Effectively challenge decision making around use of bin ranges/payment providers.
  • Represent tombola in key engagements with regulators and group associates.
  • Educate & inform teams across the business in relation to importance of implementing Fraud controls.

Qualifications/Key Skills

  • Proven expertise of working within an existing Fraud Analytics/Fraud Strategy team.
  • Experience of working within fraud prevention & detection is essential.
  • Proven track record of delivering Fraud protection across digital fraud platforms.
  • Expert in Fraud Risk strategy including policy, scoring, rulesets, operations etc.
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to condense and simplify complex information to brief and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to support multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build business relationships with colleagues throughout tombola and group associates.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and manage various management team / other stakeholder expectations.
  • An ability to influence change in a positive and collaborative manner by turning ideas into practical solutions.
  • Desire to learn use of SAS, SQL or equivalent analytical tools to develop data driven solutions.
