Occupational Therapist - Permanent
Hours: fulltime (37.Client Group: Peadiatric to Adults learning disabilities

They provide a range of educational, residential and medical services to support adults and young people with complex needs including Learning disabilities, epilepsy and autism. Our client's mission is to provide an excellent service to individuals with learning disabilities, supporting the meaningful transformation of their lives and the achievement of their aspirations. This done by enabling individuals to gain independence, positive identity, self-esteem and personal control over their lives via specialised support packages delivered in a variety of community locations.
o To provide a specialist Occupational Therapy (OT) service in school, college and adult services including residential provision.
o To carry out assessment and treatment of the specialist case load ranging from paediatric to adults with complex learning disabilities (including neurological impairments, severe learning difficulties and autism).
o To advise on the development of the services and on future OT needs at David Lewis.
o To effectively deliver OT provisions to meet the needs of the charity and annually oversee the review of resource requirements and present findings to the Head of Clinical Services & Quality and ensure correct resource is in place to meet needs.
o In accordance with David Lewis policies, be familiar with and regularly refresh knowledge of the Aspects and Indicators of Abuse in relation to the protection and safeguarding of children/young people and vulnerable adults and to report all concerns, suspicions, allegations and incidents to the Lead Person without delay.
o To adhere to and ensure that Therapy Team plans and policies are implemented.
o Ensure that all health and safety responsibilities are discharged to protect the health and safety of self, employees and comply with best practice and legal requirements.
o To ensure compliance with professional and regulatory requirements/NICE/best practice guidelines
o To interpret and implement national and local policy relevant to OT.
o Working under the direction of the Head of Clinical Services & Quality to contribute to the ongoing care and education of the client group, including liaising with families, carers and professionals.
o To be accountable for own professional action and recognise own professional boundaries through interpretation of clinical/professional policies
o To ensure that all health and safety responsibilities are discharged to protect the health and safety of self, employees and comply with best practice and legal requirements
o Complete clinically related administration, collection of statistics, development and conduct of audit and/or research projects, and deliver teaching.
o Quality of relationships with the people we support, families, staff and other professionals, measured by feedback and observation.
o Provide input where required, on admission panels, assessing potential pupils and residents, advising on OT requirements and clinical opinions of suitability for placement.
Recognised Occupational Therapy Degree Qualification, or equivalent. - Health Professions Council (HCPC) Registration. - Registered member of a member of the RCOT Specialist Section - People with Learning Disabilities - Desirable
* Experiential training to demonstrate highly specialist skills- Desirable
* Relevant experience at post-graduate level - Desirable
* Relevant advanced experience post-qualification in specialist fields- Desirable
