JOB PURPOSE
The Play Club Leader will be responsible for supervising and providing a stimulating play environment for children.
The Play Club Leader will work with the objectives of the Ohana charity to give respite for parents of children with additional needs and provide activities that reflect the children's ages and individual needs.

MAIN DUTIES
1. To follow the open and close procedure for the School and Toy Sheds.
2. To follow the money handling procedure for fees and petty cash.
3. To support families by providing a play environment and experience that can also provide respite for parents.
This includes engaging with children and playing with them, when it is appropriate to do so.
4. To take into consideration children's individual needs when engaging or playing with them.
5. To make the necessary preparations for play. I.e. setting up the play space/activities and guide volunteers in how to set
up the area. This includes packing away after the play session.
6. To provide snacks and refreshments, ensuring that food hygiene health and safety standards are met.
7. To administer first Aid where necessary and to provide care if parents are not available. (Such as taking children to use
the toilet)
8. To work within the framework of the charities policies and procedures, such as accident reporting, behavior, health and
safety, inclusion etc.
9. To do general admin, such as rotas for volunteers, distributing workload among volunteers and play assistant.
10. To facilitate good communication between play assistant, charity trustees and parents.
11. To undertake any appropriate or relevant training for your job role. To also attend any meetings necessary for the role.

SUPERVISION AND PLANNING
The Play Club Leader will be required to supervise the Play Club Assistant and the volunteers within the setting. The Play Club Leader will need to work with the other team members on planning activities for the children and setting up the space. It will be incumbent on the Play Club Leader to supervise children at all times, especially if the parents are having a break in the staff area. This will include, where appropriate, discrete supervision (such as seated observation) as the context depends. The Play Club Leader would be expected to be confident in their judgment of risk in activities and therefore the required level of supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
The post holder will be expected to have experience or qualifications of working with children and children with additional needs.
The post holder needs to have a good understanding of being able to supervise children as well as other staff members and volunteers. To be enthusiastic and organised with good communication skills and work well within a team.
Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures, a qualification in first aid and food hygiene would be desired, however not essential as training would be given.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The working environment will be part of a school as hired by the Ohana Charity
