The main purpose of the job will be to manage the range of income generating events that take place at Duxford. Success will combine delivering on financial targets, carefully managing income and expenditure budgets, and ensure that all visitors have a great experience at Duxford. You’ll manage a team of Events Co-ordinators, giving them support and direction on the events they manage, ensuring all experience are delivered in a timely and appropriate manner. This will include playing a key role in developing content for events around IWM’s subject matter.
The successful applicant will be an excellent people manager and be proactive in working with colleagues to deliver events. Strong commercial acumen and an eye for detail are also essential.
Key duties
You will be expected to work independently as well as across different teams in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of IWM - using your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to the best of your ability.
You will focus at all times on delivering excellent customer service, ensure value for money at all times while being professional, courteous and demonstrating the behaviours and attributes expected of all IWM employees. You will also adhere to all corporate standards, and use corporate systems as directed to ensure consistency of service, brand and operational standards.
You will be expected to work across departments effectively, working with individuals, partners and where appropriate volunteers.
To identify and implement learning and development needs for both yourself and your team, including volunteers, if appropriate.
In addition, your duties will include:
• Management of the commercial events and experiences team at Duxford ensuring clear leadership and direction for products and experiences with core financial objectives throughout the delivery of products.
• Creation of rotas for guided tours and the setting of workload for direct line reports.
• Oversees site hire which is delivered by the team. Ensures site hire is delivered to the agreed contract which is signed by the Head of Commercial Services for the region.
• Assist in the creation of site hire and event contracts – to be signed by the Head of Commercial Service for the region.
• Negotiate fees and contractual agreements as and when required with external stakeholders, partners and suppliers.
• Work to increase secondary spend opportunities at all events, with a focus on retail, membership, catering and sponsorship.
• Motivate and lead the events and experiences team to deliver high quality products for visitors.
• Oversee filming production at Duxford, delivered by the Events and Filming Coordinator.
• Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with IWM’s Events and Corporate team, ensuring that key stakeholders are appraised and updated on activities and challenges.
• Work alongside IWM’s Development and Communications teams to explore and secure event opportunities.
This is a fixed term role for 12 months.
