London, United Kingdom SkyBridge U.K. Ltd Full time

Are you an Aeroacoustics Engineer passionate about novel technologies? Do you want to make the move into eVTOL, on one of the most advanced projects available in the market today?

Then let me introduce you to SkyBridge; haven't heard of us before? Good. We have been operating in secrecy since 2017, in this time we have designed, manufactured and tested multiple prototypes, with the aim of finding the perfect eVTOL solution. Due to recent success we need to expand the team and increase our operations to hit our next milestone.

In order to assist with advancing our propulsion technology, we are currently searching for an Aeroacoustics Engineer to join our team. In this position, you will play a pivotal role by leading all noise-oriented design inside our Flight Physics team, with a focus on our novel eVTOL aircrafts electrical propulsion technology.

This role presents the unique opportunity to engage in the full life cycle of design and analysis; you will be sat right next door to where our aircraft is being manufactured, assembled and even tested. Our project is incredibly unique and cutting-edge, and we need the best of the best to make it happen.

If you are motivated by having a tangible and significant impact across the full vehicle architecture, whilst working with some of the best minds in industry, this may be the role for you.

Responsibilities:
  • Developing and executing aeroacoustics CAA/CFD simulations to understand and visualise key airborne noise sources with primary focus on propulsion systems.
  • Working on noise-oriented blade and propulsion unit design.
  • Defining and experimental aeroacoustics test programs: set up proposal, techniques and processing.
  • Correlating test and simulation data to continuously improve understanding and prediction capabilities.
  • Analysing and documenting test and simulation results; presenting findings.
Requirements:
  • Expert knowledge of aerodynamic noise, acoustic theory, and fluid dynamics.
  • Master of Science in Aeroacoustics/Fluid dynamics.
  • Detailed understanding of CFD/CAA fundamentals and experience in setting up and running aeroacoustics simulations.
  • Familiarity with propulsion blade design.
  • Familiarity/experience with testing methods for aeroacoustics including wind tunnel.
  • Ability to work towards challenging, dynamic goals with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in CFD/CAA software (Star CCM+ preferred), HPC simulations.
  • Experience using CAD software (preferably NX, Teamcenter).
What would set you apart?
  • Thermodynamics background, experience with thermal simulations.
  • Simulations with rotating meshes.
  • EASA/FAA aircraft noise requirements and compliance.

At SkyBridge, we want all of our employees to feel comfortable bringing their passion, creativity and individuality to work. We value all cultures, backgrounds and experiences, as we truly believe that diversity drives innovation.
