About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network and Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join a prestigious macro trading firm based in Oxford. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our trading systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in network infrastructure, firewall management, Linux systems administration, and automation using Ansible, Python, and Bash .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network and Firewall Management:
  • Design, configure, and maintain a high-performance network infrastructure, utilizing Cisco , Palo Alto , and Fortinet technologies.
  • Manage routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), VPNs, and ensure network resilience, scalability, and uptime.
  • Implement and manage security policies across Cisco ASA , Palo Alto , and Fortinet firewalls .
  • Troubleshoot network and firewall issues to ensure uninterrupted trading operations and secure data flow.
  • Monitor network performance, optimize firewall rule sets, and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Linux Systems Administration:
  • Administer and optimize Linux servers (RedHat, CentOS, or Ubuntu) used for critical trading systems and back-office operations.
  • Implement automation for system configuration, updates, and backups using Ansible and Bash scripting.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Linux server performance, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal resource usage.
  • Automation & Scripting:
  • Automate repetitive tasks and system configurations using Ansible , reducing manual intervention and enhancing scalability.
  • Write and maintain scripts in Python and Bash for automation, monitoring, and integration of system processes.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
  • Collaboration and Support:
  • Provide on-site support, collaborating closely with traders, developers, and other engineers to troubleshoot issues and optimize systems.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, ensuring business continuity in case of failures.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in Cisco , Palo Alto , and Fortinet firewall and network management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Linux system administration (RedHat, CentOS, or Ubuntu).
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools , particularly Ansible .
  • Scripting expertise in Python and Bash for task automation and system integration.
  • In-depth knowledge of network design , including routing, switching, and VPN technologies.
  • Ability to work on-site in Oxford 5 days a week.
  • Experience in a financial or trading environment is a plus.
