The post holder will be integral to the scoping and planning for the Berkshire Family Drug and Alcohol Court project. Slough is leading the FDAC work alongside colleagues from the Centre for Justice innovation (CFJI); Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC); Courts and Judiciary; and other local authorities and partners across the region.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Team Manager to be a central part of our feasibility work and setting up a local FDAC. The initial stages of the role will involve you working as the project lead for FDAC across the region pulling together the project plan and information to produce a robust business case and options appraisal identifying what is needed to move forward.
You will lead the setting up of a multi-disciplinary specialist team, that work with families who have children subject to care proceedings being held in the Family Drug and Alcohol Court, (FDAC). FDAC provides a problem solving, therapeutic approach to care proceedings that aims to improve the outcomes for children by helping parents address the issues that have put their children at risk of harm. It seeks to address the entrenched drivers and behaviours behind the issues giving rise to proceedings, including domestic abuse, substance misuse and poor emotional wellbeing. The approaches used throughout are informed by an understanding of working with trauma.
The model is of a specialist court operating within the framework of care proceedings. The specialist multidisciplinary FDAC team, which includes adult and child focussed practitioners, will be attached to the local Family court. It advises the court and links the parents into relevant local community services as well as developing and delivering a tailored intervention and support plan for the family.
