Our Emergency Department is currently looking to recruit Paediatric Registered Nurses to work within our dedicated Children & Young People's Area.

We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated nurses to work within our department which has been rated outstanding for 'well lead' by the CQC. If you're passionate about delivering high quality, child, and family centred care, then we would love to hear from you.

We are proactive in recognising talent amongst our workforce to ensure development into Sister/Charge Nurse Roles, which is supported by our band 6 development programmes. Such talent is recognised via our appraisal process, and we strongly feel appraisals allow individuals to feel valued and appreciated.

The successful applicant must:

  • Have well developed communication skills and time management.
  • Have effective organisational abilities.
  • Be a first level Registered Paediatric Nurse
  • Desirably have critical care skills.
  • Desirably have experience in an acute setting.
  • Desirable have APLS/EPALS certificate.

Main duties of the job

We are an innovative and dynamic Emergency Department with excellent performance in all the quality indicators such as the 4-hour performance target and our achievements and high-quality care have been widely recognised.

You will enjoy a challenging, varied pace and exciting working environment caring for all children, young people and their families who attend with a range of emergency presentations, acute illnesses, and injuries. We have a dedicated paediatric bay in our resuscitation area to provide emergency care, and we work closely with our inpatient paediatric ward and emergency paediatric retrieval service.

As we are a 24-hour service the shifts reflect this however we understand the need for a realistic work life balance and aim to be as flexible as possible. We endeavour to support the individual with a rota that not only supports the safety of the department but also the individual.
