About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate leader to become our first full time Head of Net Zero to champion our ongoing environmental initiatives. This pivotal role demands a combination of strategic vision and practical engagement across various sustainability fronts.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Policy:

  • Act as the primary spokesperson and representative for Tide in policy initiatives related to Net Zero.
  • Provide support to key UK based initiatives such as IcebreakerOne's Project Perseus , Bankers for Net Zero , and Innovate Finance Net Zero workshops.
  • Explore possibility of joining similar programmes in our India and Germany markets
  • Build market knowledge and advocate for the standardisation of carbon accounting methodology at policy level.
  • Become SBTi Net Zero target approved

Commitment to Net Zero Pledges:

Remove 100% Emissions with Durable Carbon Removal:

  • Own the carbon removals purchasing function at Tide
  • Stay informed about advancements in carbon removal technologies and market dynamics.
  • Act as an advocate for Tide externally through participation in podcasts and conference panels such as Carbon Unbound
  • Keep abreast of the latest guidance from SBTi and Oxford Offsetting principles alongside general industry trends globally and in Tide’s core markets

Reduce 90% of Emissions:

  • Own the Net Zero mission internally, drive the reduction of Tide’s own carbon emissions by engaging the whole organisation.
  • Oversee Tide's emissions reporting, collaborating closely with the Finance team.
  • Develop a quarterly roadmap to implement emission reduction initiatives internally.

Support Tide Members' Net Zero Journey:

  • Partner with Product teams to develop a roadmap for supporting Tide members in their Net Zero journey.
  • Advocate for market-leading standards for SME carbon accounting within Tide's platform.
  • Explore opportunities to assist Tide members in carbon reduction efforts, including partnerships with carbon removal API providers.

  • A forward thinking leader who has significant experience both working in high growth technology businesses and a deep commitment to environmental sustainability
  • Ideally based in the UK
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership abilities, capable of driving change and influencing decision-making.
