Controls & Automation Engineer
Join our life sciences client based in Larne, you will be initially part of a project team of professionals and will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of automation and process handling systems.
The role will involve providing E/C&I expertise for the specification, build monitoring, qualification, validation and maintenance of new utilities, processes and automation supporting the operation of a new manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
• Execute and document source code reviews.
• As an acting E/C&I subject matter expert to implement control systems delivery within projects activity covering verification and qualification to meet regulatory compliance, including IQ and OQ writing, verifying and execution.
• Assisting with root cause analysis (RCA) studies and actions.
• Completion of E/C&I activities, adherence to project budgets, maintaining control system qualification requirements, and effective adoption of new technologies into production-ready equipment.
• Implementing the control schemes associated with capital projects.
• Production support, troubleshooting and implementation of corrective action across electrical and automation breakdown issues to limit downtime.
• Review and implementation of new automation technologies and strategies to improve plant efficiencies and OEE.
• Key stakeholder implementing Total Preventative Maintenance strategy to drive improvements for equipment and infrastructure.
Requirements
• Qualified to a minimum HNC level or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
• MExperience with at least one of the following PLC software platforms, Allen Bradley RS Logix, Studio 5000, Siemens Step 7 Simatic manager, TIA portal.
• SCADA/HMI platform experience with at least one of the following AVEVA/WonderWare (system platform and historian, InTouch), Rockwell FactoryTalk and RSView, Siemens WinCC, TIA Portal.
• Experience of electrical control systems
• Experience of communications protocols including Modbus, DeviceNet, RS232/485, DH+, ProfiBus, industrial Ethernet (CIP, ProfiNet, Enet/IP, general Ethernet layer 2/3 security structure).
• Experience of robotic handling systems. e.g. 6-axis, Delta & SCARA
• Process control experience using Temperature, Pressure, Conductivity, pH, Level, Vacuum, Volume /Mass Flow and TOC analytics.
• Experience with IEC 61131-3 standard PLC programming languages. LAD, STL, FBD.
• Expertise in Controls, Instrumentation, Servo motion, PID Loop and PLC fault-finding.
Preferred Candidates will have experience working with the following:
• Medical Device or Pharmaceutical
• Familiarity with Database Systems or Structured Query Language is an advantage.
• Automating manual processes
• Programmable safety systems
• Siemens Simotion servo drives
• Familiarity with CE marking processes
• Familiarity with IEC standards relating to electrical controls e.g. IEC 60204-1, IEC 13849 etc
• Fanuc robotic systems
• Automated Guided vehicles or Autonomous Mobile robots
