We are a growing team of 28 people, 16 of whom run our teabag and blending machines daily.

JOB SUMMARY:

Hours: 8.30 am - 5 pm

Managing our team of two Technicians/Engineers and working closely with the Production team to provide technical and engineering support to the Production Supervisors. Identify the operations and process improvements required to manufacture products in a way that ensures quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met.

Set goals and standards and guide and develop Shift Engineers /Technicians to achieve those goals.

Ensure a safe working environment and continuity on all machines to work safely and efficiently.

Control stock of Spare Parts and align this to support the speed of the production lines, minimizing downtime.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee and Manage the Engineering function for the business.
  • Lead a team of Engineer / Technicians, providing guidance, setting goals and standards for continued improvement.
  • Develop & Implementation of Production Staff SOPs to ensure all machines run satisfactorily to a standard process, unsupervised.
  • Develop & Implementation of Shift Engineer SOPs to ensure there is a standard way of working, fault finding and fixing machines.
  • Develop & automate each production line so they work as efficiently as possible.
  • Ability to manage own time and workload effectively.
  • Identify, justify, and implement improvement/efficiency opportunities.
  • Ensuring all machines are safe and legal.
  • Manage Preventative Maintenance Schedule and arrange in-house work & external contractor visits.
  • Develop Electronic reactive maintenance programme.
  • Adhering to Trading, Weighing and Measures Legislation
  • Liaise with Operations Manager & Technical Manager for Technical information and Systems Management
  • Provide input to the Senior Management Team.
  • Advise on training for the Production Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee & carry out routine maintenance work and respond to equipment faults.
  • Diagnose breakdown problem.
  • Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly.
  • Control Maintenance Tools and Equipment in production area & workshop.
  • Deal with emergency and unplanned problems and repairs.
  • Ensure there is continuous cover of the machinery/equipment & critical spare parts in case of breakdowns.
  • Oversee & perform planned weekly/monthly maintenance.
  • Oversee & perform in-house machine checks.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL:

  • Fluent English speaking
  • Hold a relevant Degree in engineering qualification.
  • Proven experience of working & managing in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Good Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures.
  • Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
  • Good Knowledge of MS Office programmes and WMS.
