Job Title: SEMH Teacher Location: Birmingham Daily Rate: £140 – £170 Employment: Long term to permanent Monday to Thursday (8.45am – 4pm) and Friday (8.45am- 2.45pm) GSL Education are actively looking for Teachers who have experience working with young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) behavioural needs as well as challenging behaviour. At GSL we have a great reputation in the area and are renowned for our professional and personable service. The school based in East Birmingham particularly in Stechford, Yardley & Glebe Farm and is easy to access by car or public transport. Currently, the School are looking for candidates to work full-time across the whole school, with experience in Key Stage 1,2, 3 and 4. The potential candidate is required to be an experienced Primary/Secondary teacher having had substantial involvement dealing with young children possessing SEMH needs. The role may become permanent for the right candidates. The responsibilities of the role include: Create and develop Learning Plans and timetables for pupils. Plan, design and deliver an innovative curriculum focused on the complex needs of pupils Liaise with other colleagues to plan and prepare for pupils to successfully assess. To work with colleagues in developing their pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural skills. To devise and apply criteria for evaluating success with pupils who experience BESD which impact upon their learning, and enable them to access the curriculum To take responsibility for tracking pupil progress and for collecting and monitoring data to support teaching and learning To deliver and facilitate dynamic, creative, and active lessons To identify resources required to sustain and embed high quality subject delivery Delivering lessons to primary or secondary students Undergoing in-service training where required (Usually Wednesday’s) Requirements: Primary/Secondary Teaching Qualification or NQT. Team Teach experience is a bonus. A minimum of six months’ worth of ASD/SEMH experience. The ability to build rapport quickly and effectively. The ability to direct a team of Support Assistants and work as part of a wider team across school if need be. Experienced in Challenging Behaviour Settings. Experienced in Health and Social Care Settings. 1:1 Support. Dealing with Sensory Impairments and/or Sensory processing difficulties. Acknowledging complex health needs (e.g Epilepsy, respiratory problems, dysphagia and eating/drinking problems). Willingness to attend twilight CPD and parent’s evenings when required.
