Based in the Walkie Talkie building at 20 Fenchurch Street, our office is based on the 19th floor, providing fantastic views across London. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to handle low to medium value claims across our First Party Lines of business (Construction, Property, Marine, Bespoke along with some Aviation run off) which includes UK, European and International business. There will also be an opportunity to work with and be mentored by our senior members of the team through learning and development opportunities and where possible providing support on some large / complex losses within in the First Party book.

~ extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines to include thorough review of underwriting application/submission, consideration of risk management protocols, research via on-line services and other available resources and liaising with other Company departments to establish full understanding of risk exposures and completion of underwriting (pricing) worksheets.
~ referrals (as required) with the relevant AW contact
~ closely with the wider Commercial Division and contribute to the formation of overall strategy / business plans and the execution thereof.
~ with actuarial support to develop premium benchmarking and pricing models, with development of account pricing/recommendations.
~ of work to Underwriters as deemed appropriate and responsible for the professional development and training of assigned team members or direct reports if and where applicable.
~— 5 - 7 years demonstrable experience underwriting commercial combined or property business
~ analytical skills and solid knowledge of pricing & actuarial models and methods
~ be highly articulate, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills – required for daily liaison with clients and brokers including delivering effective presentations and building strong working relationships.
~ marketing and business development capability – commercial acumen, ability to influence and negotiate to various levels of seniority, internally and externally.
~ computer literate within MS office applications and an advanced level proficiency using underwriting systems
~ team player with collaborative outlook – coaching approach to the development of more junior members of the team.
