Procurement Manager (Women’s RWC England 2025 LOC)

FIXED-TERM CONTRACT UNTIL OCTOBER 2025

BASED IN WEBB ELLIS HOUSE, TWICKENHAM

Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.

Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. We’re looking for a Procurement Manager to join our LOC and play a leading role in sourcing a wide variety of goods and services required to deliver an outstanding tournament, from a diverse and sustainable supply base.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure compliance with and understanding of World Rugby’s Group procurement policy and approach to procurement.
  • Work directly with LOC Functional Areas (divisions) to understand business requirements, identify opportunities and develop suitable sourcing strategies.
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement activity for a significant pipeline of opportunities, including:
    • Developing comprehensive tender documents and leading transparent and open tender processes
    • Liaising with suppliers to ensure they receive relevant and timely information and are able to submit compelling proposals
    • Evaluating responses and conducting commercial reviews, ensuring recommendations are balanced and underpinned by solid financial analysis
    • Identifying cost-saving opportunities while balancing risk and impact on delivery of the Tournament.
    • Identifying preferred suppliers and managing the internal review, approval and due-diligence process with key stakeholders.
    • Supporting the negotiation and implementation of service agreements and contract management, working closely with Legal.
    • Promote sustainable and ethical supply chains, in line with World Rugby’s Environmental Sustainability Plan 2030, the Women’s RWC 2025 Tournament Sustainability Framework and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
    • Work closely with other professional services functions, including, legal, finance, programme management, commercial and risk to align procurement activities with business requirements and organisational objectives.
    • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance World Rugby’s procurement processes.

Experience & knowledge you’ll need:

  • Previous experience leading procurement across a wide variety of spend areas.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles, sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous working environment, prioritising tasks and handling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient IT skills and experience of preparing high quality documentation, including tender packs, presentations, scorecards and commercial analysis.
  • Ability to guide, advise and assist function leads to fulfil their responsibilities during a procurement process.

Nice to Haves:

  • Previous experience in events or a similar industry i.e. entertainment, music, start-up.
  • Experience of managing and influencing stakeholders, including senior leadership teams.
  • Understanding of sustainable sourcing principles and how procurement can contribute to delivering wider social value.

Personal Attributes:

  • Language capability in French, Spanish or Japanese.
  • Experience working in a media / broadcast role at a previous global event.
  • Track-record of working in high-pressure environments.
