PURPOSE OF THE POST

This role will lead on the provision of effective and high-quality child-first responses to concerning sexual behaviour, including consultancy, supervision, assessment, intervention and evaluation. The post holder will work as part of the wider leadership team at New Pathways and will provide guidance and leadership across the organisation in matters relating to concerning sexual behaviours. 

GENERAL

  • The post holder will embody New Pathways’ ethos and values and will model appropriate behaviours at all times and in all areas of responsibility.
  • Commit to a continuous improvement culture and be prepared to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and extent of the post.

MAIN TASKS AND DUTIES :

  • To support and advise staff across the organisation on matters relating to inappropriate, problematic and harmful sexual behaviours presented by children and young people.
  • To deal with enquiries, both internally and externally, regarding sexual behaviour of children and young people and to provide consultation around the most appropriate pathways.
  • To liaise with agencies as appropriate e.g. youth justice, children’s services, CAMHS and wider mental health services, and to form excellent partnership working arrangements.
  • To use experience, knowledge and approved processes to identify levels of concerning sexual behaviour and to respond appropriately, either through direct work or support to others.
  • To use biopsychosocial formulation to support therapeutic staff in understanding the function of presenting sexual behaviour and demonstrate how interventions can flow from formulation.
  • To ensure that all work relating to sexual behaviour is recorded appropriately and to manage systems for data collection and service provision.
  • To provide qualitative and quantitative reports to funders as required.
  • To provide supervision and spaces for reflective practice to individuals and groups.
  • To represent the organisation at external meetings and to provide guidance and structure to the Steering Group.
  • To contribute to the delivery of presentations, webinars and workshops about the work of the service.
  • To undertake any other duties New Pathways may request, as required.
