About the role:

Here at QinetiQ we are looking for a range of Systems Engineers with various levels of experience to join our Cyber, Analysis and Mission Solutions Team. This is a fantastic opportunity that will offer further training and development.

UK Intelligence help our customers respond to ever evolving threats, based on our expertise in training, secure communication platforms, intelligence, surveillance and cyber security. We deliver Mission Winning Innovation into global defence, security, and critical national infrastructure markets.

The QinetiQ Cyber, Analysis and Mission Solutions (CAMS) discipline provides Intelligence Surveillance Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) Domain Subject Matter Expert System Engineers, ISTAR System Architects and ISTAR Scientists into QinetiQ projects to deliver capability into Defence, Government and Industry both as Customer Friend (Advice Side) and Delivery Side agents.

The QinetiQ CAMS ISTAR Group currently supports a number of major projects and campaigns such as the Engineering Delivery Partnership (EDP), Defence Intelligence Rapid Innovation Capability (DI RIC), Maritime Warfare Operational Support Team (MWOST), Air Command, Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC), Joint Electronic Warfare Operational Support Centre (JEWOSC), Battlefield CIS (BATCIS), PICASSO Systems Integration Team (PSIT), Watchkeeper Army UAS, OSINT Innovation Partnership and many more both in the UK and internationally.

The Group is looking for a highly motivated Engineers and/or Subject Matter Experts to support a number of high-profile ventures. This is a great opportunity to join a high performing team in a dynamic, Agile delivery environment. This role could provide career progression opportunities to more senior roles within QinetiQ.

New to Systems Engineering?

In your first role or have some experience in Systems Engineering? Your talents may be a good match for our team. We recruit Systems Engineers with specific skillsets and areas of application, such as Systems Architects, Combat Systems Engineers and Secured Navigation Systems Engineers.

Opportunities for mid-career Systems Engineers

If you’re a mid-career professional working in industry or the armed forces, you’ll be applying your expertise right from day one. Opportunities for highly experienced Systems Engineers

As a senior Systems Engineer, you can expect specialist training (which may include conference attendance and paper presentation, for example), and targeted mentoring to develop specific technical skills. If you have senior management potential, we’ll spot and nurture it. However, to progress to more senior roles, you’ll need to be an active member of an appropriate professional body,

Our Fellowship scheme recognises and develops professionals with high-level, specialist technical expertise.

What will I be doing?

  • Provide technical support into projects throughout the engineering lifecycle in support of existing or future platforms, sensors, mission systems or processes.
  • Support integration of innovation into various capabilities.
  • Support internal and Dstl led research programmes to provide innovative solutions to emerging problems.
  • Provide support to equipment delivery programmes, through user workshop engagements, and support process change and management to enhance capability and/or reduce operator burden, operational risk and/or reduce through life costs.

What do I need?

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent), or related military service experience.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Self-motivated team member that takes ownership of tasking whilst operating collaboratively within a dynamic team.
  • Flexible approach to tasking, potentially be able to support multiple projects or tasks in a variety of stages of development i.e. concept development, requirements capture, design, delivery, verification and validation.
  • Be prepared to travel to customer and QinetiQ sites on a frequent basis to support project delivery.
